What To Wear During an Infection

Femmesil Ultra Therapy Ointment

When you are suffering from a vaginal or yeast infection, what you wear may help or hurt what is going on down there. If you are looking to prevent discomfort or further irritation, it is important for you to choose the right fabrics, which just the right amount of breathing room.

We have a few tips that may help you both get over and prevent a future infection.

  • Always choose cotton underwear. While you may want to wear those lace or satin panties, it is best to avoid them until you have fully recovered down there. Why? Cotton helps to wick moisture away from the skin, which can discourage yeast growth. Most importantly, avoid underwear that is made of nylon, lycra, or other synthetic materials, which can trap moisture.
  • Avoid pantyhose, tights, or leggings. The friction can cause heat, which can build moisture in the crotch area. It would create a breeding ground for yeast!
  • Keep clothes fitting snug, but not too snug. Tight clothing, such as tight jeans and spandex shorts, can keep warmth and moisture in.
  • Do you work out every day? Take off your gym clothes as soon as you get back. The sweat and moisture, paired with the tightness of your clothes, easily traps moisture!
  • Wear loose pajamas to bed, such as a nightgown or loose pajama bottoms/shorts. You may want to bypass underwear, too.

The key is no moisture and no heat down there. You need to keep clean and dry in order for that yeast infection to run its course and leave. The sooner you can do that, the sooner you will go back to feeling comfortable.
